Postdoctoral Position in NMR Structural Biology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, USA

The Gavathiotis Laboratory at Albert Einstein College of Medicine has a postdoctoral position available starting September 1st to study the molecular mechanism of protein-protein and protein-ligand interactions that regulate cell death signaling. We currently have several protein samples in reference to the BCL-2 family of proteins available for structural analysis. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new research team focused on interdisciplinary, innovative and collaborative research to study cell death signaling that goes awry in cancer and cardiovascular disease and discovery of chemical probes that modulate signaling for therapeutic benefit. We are equipped with state-of-the-art resources to conduct research in all aspects of modern structural biology, chemical biology, biophysics and cell biology.

Albert Einstein College of Medicine supports a broad array of shared scientific facilities and cores designed to advance the research efforts of Einstein investigators. Post-doctoral fellows will benefit from access to state-of the art resources in NMR, X-ray crystallography, crystallization robotic systems, protein production, macromolecular analysis, proteomics, HTS screening, and Linux workstations for molecular modeling and other computational analyses. Einstein provides outstanding resources in high-field NMR including 2 inhouse 600MHz NMR spectrometers and 6 NMR spectrometers at the New York Structural Biology Center (NYSBC) ranging from 500 to 900 MHz. Einstein is a member institution of NYSBC, a shared resource facility with the most advanced instrumentation in the US for structural biology that includes 11 high-field NMR Spectrometers, 4 cryoelectron microscopes and 2 X-Ray crystallographic “Beamlines” at NSLS.

The candidates will have a Ph.D. in a relevant area, with a strong publication record demonstrating experience in multidimensional NMR data acquisition and analysis, protein structure determination, protein dynamics, protein expression and purification. Experience in any of the areas of biophysics, X-ray crystallography, molecular modeling, synthetic chemistry and structure-based drug discovery is a plus. The salary and benefits for this position, including career development are highly competitive. We are seeking candidates who are self-motivated, creative, collaborative, and able to work in interdisciplinary research group. The candidates should also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Applicants should send a cover letter, including 1-2 page summary of past and present research interests and accomplishments, curriculum vitae and the names and contact details of three references to Dr. Evris Gavathiotis (gavathiotislab@gmail.com)
