The Department of Chemistry at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is searching for a Research Specialist in Chemical Sciences. This position will support the investigation of structural studies of proteins by solid-state NMR spectroscopy. Duties include operation of high-field NMR spectrometers with magic-angle spinning and variable temperature capabilities, development of pulse sequences, data collection, and data analysis protocols, and collaborating with researchers to achieve ambitious scientific objectives in the structural biology of membrane proteins and fibrils.

This is a full-time, regular academic professional position. The position requires a minimum of a Ph.D. in Biophysics, Physical Chemistry, or Physics with a dissertation awarded from a research group specializing in advanced NMR spectroscopy techniques. Preference will be given to candidates with previous postdoctoral experience of at least two to three years, in addition to prior experience in probe design and maintenance, pulse sequence development, and computational analysis of NMR data. Salary is commensurate with experience. Start date is as soon as possible following the closing date.
