Data processing
From NMR Wiki
Nowadays NMR date is recorded in the time domain (TD) in the form of free induction decay traces. Once acquired, time domain data often needs to be converted to frequency the domain (FD). Fourier transformation is the most frequently used method for such transformation.
Term NMR data processing applies to (but is not limited to) the transformation of the frequency domain data to the time domain and additional steps that might be taked prior and after the transformation.
Some of the steps taken prior to TD&larrow;FD transformation are:
- zero filling : it avoid to make the Fourier transformation on noise, and avoid some noise in the spectra, usually it's needed when the delay of spectra is too long
- apodization (e.g. multiplication of data vectors with exponential, sine-bell, etc. functions
