INEPT - insensitive nuclei enhanced by polarization transfer

It's a polarization transfer that use the J-coupling. It's the building block of several experiments like for instance HSQC, in this case their is also reverse INEPT, that is the INEPT in the other direction, it allow to transfer the polarization from the low gyromagnetic ratio nuclei to the high frequency. This last element allow to record indirectly the signal, this is highly advantageous, because it allow :

  • 2D experiment
  • large signal enhancement, not only the one due to the population transfer
