Postoc in Liquids Protein NMR - University of Umeå, Sweden
From NMR Wiki
A two-year postdoctoral position is available at the department of Chemistry, University of Umeå, Sweden.
We are seeking highly motivated candidates with documented skills in solution state NMR spectroscopy including structure determination and/or quantification of protein dynamics. The successful candidate also possesses documented skills in protein expression, isotopic labeling, mutagenesis and purification. Experience with other biophysical techniques such as circular dichroism, isothermal titration calorimetry and fluorescence spectroscopy is meritorious.
The project and laboratory
The research in the Magnus Wolf-Watz NMR lab follows three main directions. (1) The role of enzyme dynamics in enzymatic catalysis, here we ask mechanistic questions that are solved by combining spectroscopy (primarily NMR) with protein engineering and functional assays. (2) Interactions between chaperones and folded protein substrates. (3) Structural biology of proteins that control infectivity in the bacterium Yersinia pseudotuberculosis. The specific project will depend on timing in the laboratory and the interests and skills of the applicant.
The department harbor state of the art NMR equipment, including a 600 MHz spectrometer equipped with a cryogenic probe. We have recently purchased an 850 MHz spectrometer (with cryo probe) to be installed during the summer of 2012. The NMR community at the department is strong and performs research in for instance; protein dynamics, protein-metal interactions, bio-membranes, membrane proteins and climate change. The atmosphere at Umeå University is highly collaborative and promotes interdisciplinary research.
About Umeå
